K A H N the story
After 19 years of fronting South African Rock/Pop band The Parlotones, Kahn Morbee is performing as K A H N. His artistic and musical contributions on all of The Parlotones studio albums have received critical acclaim across the globe and his solo project is set to follow the same path.
With a compelling stage personality of his own and a reputation for enthralling audiences, K A H N attributes his musical influences across a range of genres and this is set to take listeners on a cathartic experience that lets you hold onto every lyric we can all associate with.
With the completion of his first solo album "SALT" recorded with Brendan Jury (producer) at the The Light Palace saw Kahn put a band together making up of fellow friends and musicians Neil Pauw, Trevor Rebello and Rob Davidson.
Its now time for his 2nd solo album "A Noise In The Void", which was released on June 30th 2017. Kahn returned to his roots to work with engineer and producer Theo Crous, who had previously mixed and engineered most of The Parlotones albums. The approach to this album was completely different to previous endeavours in the sense that he brought in many talented and influential musicians to contribute to the 14 track album, to produce one of his most dynamic and honest releases to date.
In 1998 Kahn formed The Parlotones, a melodic quartet which has attained a global following, they have headlined the 20,000-seater Coca Cola Dome, and played in the historic 2010 FIFA World Cup Kick-off Concert to an audience of a billion. The Parlotones staged an original rock theatre production, Dragonflies and Astronauts, which was broadcast live around the world in 3D via DIRECTV and in 2D on Facebook. Performing thousands of shows in countries around the world and having played live to over 2 million people in their career to date, The Parlotones have performed at many European and American music festivals with, among others, the Kings of Leon, Imagine Dragons and The Cure. The band has also received South African Music Award’s (SAMA) for:
2006 - Best Rock Album for Radiocontrolledrobot
2007 - Best rock album for Stardust Galaxies
KAHN was recently nominated for a SAMA in 2016 for his debut solo album SALT.
Since the first season, KAHN has become a coach on South Africa’s version of ‘The Voice’, winning the first season with his team and protégé Richard Stirton, allowing a new generation of music hopefuls to benefit from his incredible journey and vast experience.
